Stair Function

What You Do

First, you must be in 4-Wheel Function before you transition to Stair Function.

Align your device so that the rear drive wheels are about one inch away from the bottom steps.

While one hand is holding the hand rail, push the Selection toggle left until the Stair icon is displayed. Then push the Seat Position toggle forward until the Stair icon is flashing bold.

Push the flashing “OK” button. Press the Seat Position toggle left until the seat stops tilting. You are now ready to climb the stairs.

To climb up, shift your center of gravity back by leaning against the backrest and using the handrail to initiate the rotation of the clusters. As the cluster rotates up and over, you will need to lean your weight forward to slow the cluster down to land the wheels on the step.

At the top of the stairs, when the rear set of wheels are on the landing, you push on the handrail to roll up the front wheels onto the landing. The iBOT® Mobility System will recognize this as the last step and will automatically exit out of Stair Function and into 4-Wheel Function.

The OK button and drive setting will flash. Press the “OK” button to confirm 4-Wheel Function and activate the joystick. Use the joystick to back away from the stairs.
